Course Introduction
Following Levels 1 & 2, this Advanced Safeguarding Children (Level 3) course will provide awareness and in-depth understanding of safeguarding children. This course is aimed at improving the knowledge of staff working with children, young people and/or parents/ carers or any adult who could pose a risk to children.

This course can be delivered as a Workshop, Classroom style or Virtual Live Online Training.
Topics Covered (+ Level 1 & 2 Courses)
Identify all potential signs of sexual, physical or emotional abuse or neglect
Understand what constitutes child maltreatment, awareness and knowledge of forensic procedures in child maltreatment
Understand how to undertake a risk and harm assessment
How to communicate effectively with children and young people
How to contribute to/ formulate and communicate effective management plans for children
Understand the issues surrounding misdiagnosis in safeguarding/ child protection
How to ensure correct processes and legal requirements for looked after children, including after-care
How to assess training requirements
Understand how to deliver and receive supervision
Identify risk to the unborn child in the antenatal period as appropriate to role
How to apply lessons learnt from audit and appropriate information sharing
Contribute to serious case reviews and child death review processes
Participate in and Chair peer review and multidisciplinary meetings as required
Understand how to obtain support and help in situations where needed
Course Description
This Advanced Safeguarding Children (Level 3) 1-day course is aimed at improving the knowledge of staff who have contact with children, young people and/or parents/ carers or any adult who may pose a risk to children.
These staff could potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and/or evaluating the needs of a child or young person and/or parenting capacity regardless of whether there have been previously identified with child protection or safeguarding concerns, or not.
